Rev 7 Sensor Mass Moment of Inertia & Center of Gravity
Mass Moment of Inertia
Ok, here it is, with the usual disclaimers:
This is the REV 7 OS1 rotating portion only, not the entire sensor.
The sensors are dynamically balanced after assembly, so this CAD is not a perfect match. More importantly, this CAD model was never fully mass matched to the actual design back when we designed it (we're doing this on REV 8 ).
For the purposes of CG location 0 is the sensor base and Y is the spin axis.
For the purposes of inertia, I_z is roughly oriented with the spin axis.
It would be a lot of work to provide a customer sanitized mass model of just the rotating portion, so assume that is unavailable.
Center of Mass
Strong warning that the REV 7 models are not perfect in terms of weights, and we have no plans to make them so.
That said, I would be surprised if the CG is off by more than a mm or two. The CG is predicted as 24.6 mm from the base in a no-cap REV 7.0. This increases to around 31.4 mm from the base when the halo cap is added. CGs are within 1 mm (radially) of the sensor centerline, which is also the spin axis. I expect that we will have better answers on REV 8 once ready. Rev 7.1 is not substantially different from 7.0 for this.
The other thread above is ok, but note that Slack auto purges so you might want to save that info elsewhere.
